While at the wedding in the Chicago area we stayed at the Naperville Country Inn & Suites, which provides a complimentary breakfast. In my feedback to the questionare they sent after, I noted that the fact that they use bread to sop up the grease in the bottom of the sausage and bacon trays creates a huge risk for people with celiac disease and gluten/wheat sensitivities and allergies, and really cuts down on our already limited food choices at said breakfast.

The manager just sent me an email apologizing and informing he's changing the policy immediately.

So if you need to stay somewhere in Naperville for some inexplicable reason, thumbs up!

That is excellent customer service! And noted. If anyone needs a hotel in Chicago, that name will be passed on.

Note it is an hour commute from downtown Chicago by public transit. We were there as it was the official wedding hotel.

*thumbs up* to them for listening, but also *thumbs up* to you for taking the time to tell them!

Good to know. While no one in my family is gluten sensitive (that we know of), it's always good to support a place that listens and responds to the customers. And, since my brother lives near by, it's likely that I'll be staying in the area. (My sister-in-law has house rabbits to which I am allergic and so we don't stay with them.)

That's awesome.

That is awesome!

There are so many sorts of dietary needs that can be accommodated if only one knows about the problem.

sorta OT: I've heard of a San Francisco sandwich shop with gluten-free bread. Any idea what it is called?

Dunno if this is what you're talking about since I wouldn't immediately categorize it as a sandwich shop, though sandwiches are a big part of their menu: Pica Pica Maize Kitchen is entirely gluten- and wheat-free.

Good to know they listen to feedback!
