I'm sure that two seconds before the shutter clicked and two seconds after it, you looked lovely. I think you're tremendously photogenic and usually very sexy, to the point that if I hadn't seen this with my own eyes I would never have believed that the possibility of it existed, but this photographer has somehow managed to sabotage you. Please don't use this on your profile -- it will scare people off, and you're such an attractive person in everything else I've seen of you.

Hi.

This is sort of sticky. On one hand, I posted this because hey, free photo, this is a thing I was wearing; this is where I was. It's a huge, unretouched image right now, and if you looked at it at that size, it particularly needs work.

This photographer did not sabotage me. He's just a photographer doing his job. We all have good days and bad days; this one wasn't my best (I'd had two drinks dropped on my dress earlier in the evening) and maybe it wasn't his.

But it's important to note a few things:

1. I'm always open to discussion of aesthetics and presentation because, hey, that's what we do here.
2. In most cases an "uglier" photo of someone is closer to what they really look like (as is rather the case in terms of me here).
3. Considering it's my birthday the intensity of this comment really could have waited a day.
4. I'm 38-years-old. I don't post photos to compete with bright young things, and I rarely get acting work because I am beautiful, but because I am handsome (in the way that they used to call women) or willing to be ugly.

All of which is to say, it's just a photo. And no one image is capable of being the end of any of my worlds. Even if people see it.

While I don't have a strong a negative reaction to this photo, there are a couple of things that are nagging my total aesthetic experience of it. It appears, to me, that your shoulders are rounded or slumped and that also affects the way your face is presented with almost no neck and I also have to say little to no jawline which I think is one of your many good features. These could also be as a result of the size of the photo and/or the unretouched nature of it. On the positive side, it does give you a 1940s look and it and the dress accentuate your figure. I think the dress is lovely on you. Finally, the look you give in this picture is smoldering.

I like it, but there is something about it that does not seem quite right about the composition, and I can't seem to figure out what it is. I suspect that whatever it is, that's what the folks who are not liking it are reacting to. Possibly that fact that it's pretty low-res may have something to do with this.

I find this photo really interesting in the way it combines the usually-soft over-the-shoulder look with a more direct gaze than I'm used to seeing with it--a traditionally feminine stance with a traditionally masculine gaze. I like it.
