Now it can be told, really really for real:

On March 15th there's an anthology coming out called Whedonistas! I have an essay in it about being late to the fandom, being female and often masculinely-identified, and Patty having a pick-axe under the sink.

There will also be an event for the book at Gallifrey One in Los Angeles in mid-February that I will, baring other professional commitments, be at.

The book features essays from fans you've heard of and fans you haven't -- the group includes names like Seanan McGuire, Cat Valente, Sarah Monette, and Emma Bull. It's lovely company to be in and a real treat to be able to talk about my ways both of being female and of being fannish. Plus, don't you really, really want to know if I've ever used the word efulgent in a poem?

Pre-ordered back when rumblings about this first came out. I too was late to the party, and spent the better part of a year watching Danish subtitled downloads and snarking with friends online as I watched.

Someday I will write an essay entitled "My Deprived Childhood: Why Not Having Cable TV Delayed My Showing Up to the Fandom Party" or something like that. I am working my way through B5 now!
