We're only 8 - 15% of the population and theorized differences about us are considered to skew results of all sorts of studies because of things like:

- high levels of testosterone at birth may lead to left-handedness (this also may indicate a left-handedness correlation to auto-immune disorders, learning disorders, dyslexia, stuttering, and strong spatial abilities)
- possible findings that left-handed people with college degrees earn more than right-handed people with same.
- disproportionateness to general population has found in leadership position breakdowns
- long-held beliefs about artistic ability and mental health in left-handers
- the fact that we're likely to die about ten years younger than right handers (theorized to be due to poor or non-existent implements (tools, scissors, knives, guns) designed for our use and supposedly increased risk of suicide because of the supposed mental health issues thing).

It's a mix of science and pseudoscience, but left-handed people are excluded from all sorts of studies, including those for new medications, as a rule.

Only 8 - 15% of the population, and therefore ignorable?

I swear to God, the only reason the human race is overrunning the planet is that we don't have any competent competition.

Not that I'd recommend creating coyotes with thumbs, you understand.

Hell, normally we ignore 51% of the population in such matters. The lefties are the least of it. I support feminist coyotes more than I suppose coyotes with thumbs though.
