The curry she thought she hated was okra, but it turned out to be Chinese eggplant.

There was an incident with a snake that either was or was not a cobra (she didn't get a good look because it was behind her when everyone started screaming and also speaks a little bit of Hindi and almost no Gujarati so she has no idea what it was only that she knows the word cobra was involved in the discussion somewhere) but was definitely something bad and was eventually killed by the workers and hung in a tree. SEND MONGOOSES (MONGEESE?) IMMEDIATELY.

Also, she is AWESOME.

To avoid confusion you'd better send a mongoose and then send another mongoose.

My housekeeper makes a lot of that not-okra (which is called Lady Fingers here.). I don't like it either, but I'm so starved for vegetables, that I eat it anyway :)

I prefer okra/bhindi to Chinese eggplant too, so I can see why Patty wouldn't like it. Then again, I grew up with fried okra, so my relationship with it is a bit different from most.

Also, OMGSNAKE! I'm glad Patty and everyone else is okay. I feel sorry for the snake, though--even if they are venomous and not good neighbors, they're just doing their snakey thing and can't really be blamed for that. Hopefully any other snakes in the area will take the hint and lay low for the duration.

i came eye to eye with a mongoose over christmas break. it was making a thorough investigation of the area under the sundeck I was lying on - I was certainly reassured that the sundeck was thus snake free - but it was nonetheless an unseelie experience. Mongeese are oddly disconcerting up close. Though certainly not more so than the maybe!cobra, holy crap.

my only surprise!snake experience -- or, no, wait, I've had two - the most recent one was several years ago when I came home from clubbing and found my parents' cat in the kitchen studying a (what turned out to be) harmless garden snake, paw raised, ready to bomp it on the head. I didn't know it was harmless at first glance, and so kicked it onto the porch in a rush of adrenaline.

all of that to say: eeee! I'm glad everyone is okay!

Yay Mongoose!
Seriously, if I could have a pet mongoose...
Well, I'm not sure what I'd do, but it would be awesome.
