It is 2:17am and I am just leaving work.

I miss Patty.

It's fucking cold.

All my creative projects need me, but I'm in no time, no space land for at least another 24 hours.

I HAVE to work on the plane to LA. I HAVE to. Which is something I find nearly impossible as a rule. But I HAVE to.

Oh god. Los Angeles. I don't understand you. I don't really like you. But at least you're warm and have pink drinks.

OH MY GOD, WHY DO I NOT HAVE THE PIECE OF INFO I NEED SO I CAN DECIDE WHAT TO DO ABOUT MY HAIR? (Okay, I'm like person 20,753 in line for this info, but still, it's supposed to be out by now, and it's not).

OH FUCK ME, I NEED TO MAKE A PHONE CALL ABOUT A FELLINI THING. (Yeah, it's true, but mostly I typed that just because my life allows me to type things like that and it's totally gorgeous).

Hey did you know the guy who administered TARP is YOUNGER THAN ME? What is up with that? I'm trying to picture myself administering TARP. Then I start laughing.

Man, it's really late, and I'm really punchy.

Oh yeah. And I'll have announcements about stuff soon (by which I mean "this week" and in fact mean actually this week (italics for those who know what I'm still being cranky about)). So yay.

It's three hours earlier here, but it's still really late, and I'm just as punchy. Here's hoping we both get something resembling a decent night's sleep.

It is 2:47am, and I'm still working.

Granted, I'm working from home and in my PJs... but, just saying you're not the only crazy night owl here... :)

McClellan was significantly younger than me when they put him in charge of the Union Army. he;'d never been in a battle.

These things boggle me.

It's pretty astonishing, isn't it? But I could tell you stories. My brother and I once drafted a policy for inter-service artillery asset sharing (which went on to become official policy) while sitting in his hotel room in Arlington VA. You can accomplish a lot in this town if you don't care who takes credit for it.

L.A.? I'm open for answering questions on L.A.

But in my observations of the NYC area...it's kind of like Staten Island, Queens, and Long Island got together around a few movie studios. Oh, and maybe some Brooklyn, too. But sprawled out a lot more. Taking the space pressure off does all the weirding, because an essential part of the New York character is the way that everyone is squeezed together. What New Yorkers do with bluntness, Angelenos do with distance.

The mother of the TARP guy is a friend of my aunt's. I coveted his (or his siblings', I'm not sure whose they were) Archie Digest collection as a child.

SMALL WORLD IS SMALL.

...

This explains so much about the world we live in.

I still say haircut, but I am a HAIRCUT ENABLER on the best of days. So. Truck of salt incoming.

The Fellini thing is still epic. And you're not the only one who'll be trying to figure out how to work on the plane. Oof.

Sometimes I think I feel like this, too, only it never occurs to me to write it down. And then I wonder why I never update...
