Well, why not, for those who like such things? I don't wear pinstriped suits (or indeed any masculine-styled suit), so I have no business telling those who do how to design their pinstripes.
In all seriousness, the personalized pinstripes is a welcome bit of subtlety in the world of despotic fashion statements. Mubarak's suits won't ever compete with Qaddafi's outfits, and he knows this is true. Instead, Mubarak decided to make a statement of his own.
I've been waiting for customized small-run cloth weaving for a long time. This is barely a start. Wait till they get Jacquard weaving for this sort of thing.
I suspect that lower case (and punctuation) would make the pinstripe look ragged. That might even be an issue with horizontal lettering, depending on the typeface.
