Apr. 11th, 2003 10:45 amThis getting up early thing is not working. But then, neither is the going to bed early thing, which was entirely not helped last night by watching Lord of the Rings when I got home from the theater. That said, I still like the theory, and I'm still getting up earlier than I would otherwise, and it might work better when it's a bit warmer and brighter in the world -- so continue to attempt this I shall.
I've quite nearly found a makeup and hair person for my headshots (1 week!) and nearly more importantly, I've quite nearly made peace with my hair. Now that I've been using product in it daily and taking time to negotiate with it daily, it's working more often than not. This is a thing of joy and much bemusement. Yesterday, it wound up being both particularly good and particularly funny.
We've done the cast switch on Capulet, and man, do I respect both actors involved, as both have given remarkably good performances under remarkably screwy circumstances. Even so, the adrenaline from all of that wound up sapping our energy a bit last night, and I just hope we have a good audience on this cold and rainy Friday.
I've one of the arias from A&G stuck in my head, which is ridiculous, because it's not even one of the ones I really like. I did buy the CD of it though, to get more comfortable with it. Also picked up the Boheme CD, but I can't decide if I want to listen to it before I go see it or not. This sounds like a bizarre dilemma because the whole point of opera in many cases is being familiar with opera and experiencing the particular voices and interpretations, so you can't really be too prepared, but I am so all about the new experience, that I don't want to deprive myself of that.
Which reminds me, I walked by TKTS yesterday going from A&G to HP and they had Boheme tickets yesterday, so if the lovely ladies who are going with me would take a moment to consider whether we'd like to spend $26.50 for the ordeal of rush tickets or if we'd like to spend about $10 more for seats that won't crick out necks, will allow us to actually get a sense of the broad design and will be less difficult to get, that would be a good thing. I, of course, will abide by the group decision on this thing, since I'm pretty sure I'm going to wind up seeing it a second time anyway.
