I'm stupid tired.
And glad I don't have rehearsal until 4 tomorrow, although I've a lot of work to do during the way for class.
We're in that week of extreme pressure and crunch that happens with all shows with A&G.
I found sugar-free bitter chocolate today. That helped a little. But I'm still feeling nutty without my sugar fix. I'd tell you something interesting, but I can't think of anything, well other than I yelled at a group of tourists on the bus who were drumming loudly on their luggage and trying to be all Blue Man Group about it.
I could hear it over my headphones and it was irritating me. Other passengers clearly felt the same, because they all kept turning around and glaring at them, so finally, I turned around and said, "You know, that's really intollerably irritating." And they stopped.
Which was quite nice, particularly after a very good voice lesson, even if the song we're working on right now is way too hard for me. I think being around all the opera though is encouraging me to attempt to have great clarity in my voice, which is a good thing for a number of reasons including that it's hard for me to distinguish between pitch and sound issues -- if something sounds bad to me, I presume it's off pitch, when it's nearly always a lack of artistry on my part.
Also -- I hate the subway, I take the F to 42nd and then walk a block to take the 1/9 to voice. So this morning there was no uptown F, so I had to cab to the 1/9 and after lesson there was no downtown 1/9, so I had to take the afformentioned bus.
Am eating provolone now. Real provolone, not that awful soft American nonsense. So yummy. The stuff is stupid expensive though, but it's totally my favorite.
