Jan. 7th, 2005 10:50 pmTotally totally tired, and lord I'm glad for a day off tomorrow even if I've got a ton of Macbeth to learn this weekend (we were all given different classical scenes and I was given two from Macbeth, while others wound up with totally different things -- after hemming and hawing about it, I suppose I'm really flattered -- I won't say Lady Macbeth is the hardest thing to play -- you can't really evaluate that, but it's a role that deserves a lot -- no matter how much you do there's still room in it, and I feel pretty pleased to have something that gives me that much space).
Meanwhile, me and another girl in studio are going to do a short scene for the corrobee (again with the spelling) next week, and we're thinking about one of the Alice/Anna confrontations in Closer -- so we need to sort that out this weekend too.
Saw the rehearsal of Three Furies tonight. It's phenomenal. Entirely the type of art that made me want to come to Australia in the first place. ANd it's funny to me, the way in which getting this experience tonight hit me with that sure knowledge that even if nothing else wonderous happens here, I got what I came for... but it all feels like such the beginning of things. So I'm very excited for the fully staged production of it that we get to see next week, and I'll write about the nature of the piece then, I suppose.
Dinner at Tropicana again, just 'cause, and I proved my capacity for getting lost in this town is once again boundless -- that said with a track record like this I'm going to know every nook and cranny like the back of my hand.
It's been cool here, and will probably be too cool for the beach this weekend, but I may do a Bronte/Bondi walk one day, and I think a nice dinner tomorrow, probably at a well regarded sushi bar at a pricey hotel.
I've discovered that nightlife here is entirely about restaurants and coffee, yeah there are clubs, but everyone I talk to about it makes a face and says the good ones don't even let women in, and really if you want to go clubbing, go down to Melbourne. So one less thing to worry about. I mean Sydney has a _breakfast_ scene.
So yeah, still all bloody marvelous. And tomorrow I'm going to Flickerfest and wanky post-Flickerfest drinky thingy. Mmmm, adventures adventures. It's sort of madly intimidating though, like going to a swank bar in Tribeca by myself.
