Dec. 25th, 2006 01:34 pmSo more of the holiday recap before I go over to my parents:
They also got me a portable DVD player, largely because of all teh time I spent sick in bed this year. This is the best, most reasonable attempt they've made to deal with the celiac situation, but the funniest part? The best thing about this gift is bringing it with me on all my running around planned for this year -- my flights to New Orleans and Detroit will be the better for it, as will being able to tune other people out while there (I get overwhelmed easily). So this is really good.
I also got a great bag, some fantastic leather fingerless mits, books, and in another case of WTF, but that's really useful -- pajamas and slippers. I'm not that type of girl, but with conferences and houseguests galore this year, awesome!
Meanwhile, my parents really liked their gifts, much to my relief -- it was a tought year for inspiration for them.
Today hopefully I'll manage to catch up with various folks on the phone, although my other gift giving days currently look like the 29th and 12th Night -- we all got so behind this year!
Meanwhile,
yuletide is the coolest. I got this great Big Love fic which really seems to understand both the world of the show and the world that makes the show exist: http://yuletidetreasure.org/archive/28/thebeams.html and my recipients both seem to have liked their stories (and I was really worried about one of them. I can't post the links to my stuff yet, 'cause teh reveal hasn't happened yet, but I have to say the feedback I've been getting for one of them has been really amazing and as much fun as everything else about Yuletide. this year's Swordspoint fics in it were richer and more complex than in the past too (althogh, of course, we're all working with more info this year, thanks to Privilege of the Sword, and I've also read a lot of fics in fandoms I hardly knew existed that are all amazing in a WTF, I can't believe anyone wrote that, but it is really bloody amazing way. Also, dude, Slings & Arrows fic! Although I don't know if that means anything to 99.9% of my friends list! I'm already thinking about what I'm going to request next year (other than more Richard/Alec and some Delaunay/Alcuin).
