- The gluten-free croissants are excellent. I feel, again, as I often do when some food is found, as if I have reentered the world.

- There will be a descensus update for Halloween. I've just taken the final pass over something amazing that was actually started for last Halloween, but life happened.

- Patty is still sick. For her to feel like crap on Halloween is like me dropping a table on my foot at the Regency Ball, just with less screaming and more sweetness.

- Speaking of my toe, it continues to improve, however, i think it will ache for a long time. It also looks disgusting -- I cut the toenail off the other day because tehre was lots of pressure on it, and apparently the table broke skin under there, because doing so didn't hurt at all and there was all this old sticky blood bubbling around under there after I did it. But now it hurts less. Bet you really wanted to know that, eh?

- There is a profoundly ugly discussion of vanity presses going on elsewhere on my friendslist, but it's locked, so I can't link you to the horror.

- Saturday daytime is looking crazy. And I have to decide between free American Gangster and Baroque dance class. Right now I'm thinking i send Patty to the movies while I go dance, but the truth is, I don't think there's any entirely satisfactory answer.

This may be one of my favorites. It's a little achey. It's also Severus/Narcissa and Severus/Lily.

I know!
JKR saying Dumbledore was gay is not some hideous introduction of sexuality into innocent children's books.

HAVE YOU PEOPLE READ BOOKS 4, 5, 6 and 7?

News to people: straight teens kissing each other? ALSO SEXUALITY.

Man, I have got to get off the Internets.

Also: JKR hates me: http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/2007/10/31/new-clues-and-secrets-revealed-on-jk-rowling-com

Although my book is not an encyclopedia or guide, nor does it claim to be. It's a quiz book on the weird little fiddly fixations I have.

argh!

Okay, this will be the last of today's posting mania, but I just spent HOURS on the phone with New York State because thanks to a clerical error they just issued a warrant for me for taxes I paid that they thought I hadn't.

This has now been resolved (although I won't get the letter confirming that fact for three to four weeks) and my assets (what assets?!!?) are not, in fact, going to be seized, but I'd like those hours of my life back now, thanks.

This is an utterly horrifying tale of a French teenage boy raped in Dubai and his dealings with the legal system there.

Because of the work I do for the Germans, I do a lot of coverage on Dubai, and there's been some discussion of my travelling there at some point. While it is one of those parts of the world that deeply fascinate me, I'm not really interested in giving their economic miracle another dime right now.
