You can get an audio version (.mp3 -- I figured it out!) of my Face of Boe fic here: http://audiofic.jinjurly.com/an-echo-of-the-thing

There's one slightly bobbled word and an accidental word switch at the end that I am going to go in and fix when I get editing software, but I recorded like 6 versionns of this and this is the right one -- it captures but what I was hearing and feeling when I wrote it and is, I think, pretty neat (I know it's right when I have the moment where I don't recognize my voice), which is weird to say, because I've loathed my voice most of my life. But this is special to me at least. So I hope those who care for the Doctor Who fic enjoy.

- On the way to the subway the strap on my fencing bag snapped. Luckily, I have a much better sense of how to navigate with the thing and way less embarrassment about dragging the huge thing on the subway. Also, I hate that bag and will be happy to get a new one soon.

- ipod! The world is different when you're stalking through it listening to creepy Nordic music.

- ipod! The idea that I was going to watch Torchwood's second season on the ipod on the subway to waste less time? Predicated on the idea that I can balance the inner and outer world, not laugh (or gasp) out loud and not miss my stop. Er, got 15 minutes into Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and discovered I was made of fail. Would you believe me if I also noted this episode has stellar pacing and timing? Also, what is going on with that Hussar jacket they've got Marsters in? Is it supposed to be entirely wrong? Finally, I bet that set is waaaaay too much fun.

- ipod! Playlists so far: Descensus, Torchwood, Mairome. You'd probably say "wtf?" to what's in all of them, but it's making my world work.

- Fencing tonight. Last fencing class before Sicily, in fact, although I am going to drop in on people on Friday to give my weapons to Michael.

- Too little sleep.

- Got assigned more articles on shoe construction. Hey. It pays for the glamorous lifestyle (*eye roll*)
As part of the LJ Advisory Board elections, I want to point you all to [livejournal.com profile] ljunited which was founded by someone you all probably at least know of, [livejournal.com profile] insomnia who has long be a voice of reason, passion and technical knowledge here in the world of LJ.

[livejournal.com profile] ljunited was founded in reaction to LJ's many broken promises to the userbase and after some tough questions and good discussion they've endorsed my candidacy for the LJ Advisory Board.

One of our big concerns right now is that the issues oriented candidates may split the votes amongst themselves while folks who are very popular or have candidacies that don't address issues people find stressful and emotional walk away with it. We are trying to work together to make sure this doesn't happen, and whatever happens with the election want to make sure we create a unified block to speak out as the userbase relationship with LJ/SUP moves forward.

So, I'd encourage all of you to join [livejournal.com profile] ljunited for the election and beyond. Also, [livejournal.com profile] squeaky19 has just joined us. He's the fellow who runs IJ, and has a lot to say to those of us with concerns about the status of LJ's code, and open source and journal migration issues.

Meanwhile, while I'm a decent designer when working for others, the idea of branding myself for this campaign all by my lonely is a little daunting. So if anyone wants to offer suggestions, advice, designs, images, graphics, etc., I'd love to see them.

Additionally, I'll be in Sicily May 17 - 25 studying swordsmanship, but have found a way to make sure I deliver at least one election-related issue post each day during that time. I'm taking suggestions for issues you'd like to see addressed in those and also reminding people that I'll need help getting the word out about said posts both in general and particularly during that time.

So what can you do right now to support this candidacy and an LJ that is both viable as a corproate entity and respectful of its users?

- join [livejournal.com profile] ljunited
- If you haven't already posted in support of my nomination, do so here: http://community.livejournal.com/lj_election_en/836.html as momentum is critical to any battle of this sort.
- Talk about [livejournal.com profile] ljunited and/or my candidacy in my journal.
- Help out in the above mentioned graphic design context.
- Talk to me about your LJ concerns, especially if you're part of a constituency I'm less familiar with -- hearing technical concerns and concerns from non-US users would be a big help to me right now.

Once we have some campaign materials together and once voting opens there will be more to do, but this is a huge start.

Thank you!
