I've felt very sure I would be able to call Patty in Oman tomorrow, but I am having a hard time fiding a site to buy a calling card for Oman (says you can, go through the process, then you can for whatever reason -- or you have to wait days for approval for some unknown reason). Does anyone hve any recommendations for instant calling cards purchasable online?
Because I'm working on a proposal for something and I've only watched The Sarah Jane Adventures here and there, can anyone tell me if there are any episodes I need to watch because they pertain to the use of media/public relations?

Thnx.

- Calling card successfully obtained. Patty's cellphone seems to be in a non-coverage area at the moment though. Waaaah, I was all looking forward to hearing her smiling voice, hopefully we'll experience the magic of communication in some form or another this weekend. Also, I know she's sent me two letters, but neither has been received yet.

- Saw an ex-lover on the street this morning. He looked terrible. He's twenty years older than me and always looked older than his age, so it's not surprising, but it still shook me. He looked at me curiously, wondering, I suppose, if he should recognize me. I only recognized him by the walk, and that same stupid bomber jacket he's had all these years. I'm surprised I don't run into him more often; he lives right near here, but it threw me, and made me sad for the little overhwhelmed girl that I was -- so much power and no idea what to do with it other than apoligize for it.

- DW chapter proposal: percolating

- Work: oi!

- LJ Idol: no open vote this week; gatekeepers are deciding who stays and who goes.
I have known [livejournal.com profile] elionwyr on LiveJournal for years. Although we have never met, we have supported each other, sometimes closely and sometimes at a distance through the forming and dissolution of relationships, various agonies of identity and the singular peculiarity of being people who are not always present in the physical world in the way other people expect us to be: I mean, I've had something she made me for someone who doesn't even actually exist on my wall for years now. People who get that sort of thing are precious.

At any rate, soon, she's jumping out of a perfectly good airplane to raise money for a charity called SOAR that works with survivors of sexual violence.

Charities like SOAR benefit everyone, not just those with direct relationships to their target mission. You may not have ever experienced sexual violence, but there's a good chance someone you love, someone you like, someone you work with, someone you haven't even met yet, has. Sexual violence perpetuates violence throughout a society, has significant economic costs and its legacy can function as a disruptor to pretty much any positive interaction. Organizations like SOAR work hard to change all of that.

[livejournal.com profile] elionwyr's goal to raise $600 for this organization by jumping out a plane (something I would seriously not have the stones to do). She's up to $400 already.

Here's the thing. There's like 500 people theoretically reading this. I think she can raise a hell of a lot more than another $200, don't you?
