Nov. 29th, 2010

Just put Patty on her train to Cardiff, and I'm on mine to Heathrow.

Despite a tube strike and more traffic than I can possibly describe, we had a not horrible or horribly expensive cab ride to Paddington. So far so good.

She'll be home in three weeks-ish (stuff! we'll know! soon!) and I'll have good Internet again and we can video chat and all that, but it's still always hard when we have to part.

We make it look good though.

Now it can be told, really really for real:

On March 15th there's an anthology coming out called Whedonistas! I have an essay in it about being late to the fandom, being female and often masculinely-identified, and Patty having a pick-axe under the sink.

You can find out more from Mad Norwegian Press. Or order your copy now from Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble's, Powell's, Mysterious Galaxy, and many other fine retailers. There will also be an event for the book at Gallifrey One in Los Angeles in mid-February that I will, baring other professional commitments, be at.

The book features essays from fans you've heard of and fans you haven't -- the group includes names like Seanan McGuire, Cat Valente, Sarah Monette, and Emma Bull. It's lovely company to be in and a real treat to be able to talk about my ways both of being female and of being fannish. Plus, don't you really, really want to know if I've ever used the word efulgent in a poem?
