So, Patty and I will be in Boston from Thursday - Sunday.

I will be working Thursday and Friday.

But!

We do want to see people, although we don't have the logistics of anything we're doing yet together enough to plan with the Internet... we're getting there.

Meanwhile,

We're staying in Kendall Square.

What's awesome this weekend?
Where can we go dancing?
Restaurant recs? (although, I'll be frank, I'm a little pathetic in Boston, because I get so excited just about having access to PF Chang's and Legal Seafoods).

If you end up in Porter Square in Cambridge for some reason--Stone Hearth Pizza has a GF menu. They are very careful about their gluten contamination and avoid it.

Sadly, I'll be in Kansas this weekend. But say hi to Legal's for me, if you go!

I don't have as much of a handle on what's good for GF-eaters as some people (by which I mean [livejournal.com profile] shadesong), but some places I like in the area that Urbanspoon lists on their "best Gluten-Free Friendly" list:
Hungry Mother
Oleana

Both of these fill fast; make reservations now if you can! They're a 10-15 minute walk from Kendall Square proper (head down Broadway to where Hampshire splits off; Oleana is down Hampshire a couple of blocks on the left, while for Hungry Mother you turn right at Cardinal Medeiros Ave and go about a block).

There's also a Legal Sea Foods right in Kendall Square.

I second talking to shadesong; she has posted some gluten free menus that made me drool, and her level of intolerance seems similar to yours (accidental glutening = days of useless). Plus no soy and a few other things = if she trusts and is happy w/ somewhere it should be awesome.

RSCDS Boston branch is having a ball this Saturday, and welcome dance at Springstep on Friday. Ball reg is officially closed; don't know if there's still room. Friday's dance has a door rate and is low-key with lots of good dancing. Will be at both. Springstep is bus-accessible. http://www.rscdsboston.org/events-HighlandBall.html

Waltham is hosting International Steampunk City this weekend. CVD is doing a Victorian ball Saturday. I don't know anything more about it; just saw invitations go by.

Ack, that's what I get for making assumptions. Weston, actually; ball in Framingham. (Looks like Framingham location is near a ComRail station, Weston is not.)

Yes! I'm bummed I won't be here this weekend for it, but it's a blast!

I work across the street from the Legal Sea Foods in Kendall, actually, so I could probably meet up/have coffee/etc Thursday if you're inclined. (Friday evening I have to sprint home.)

It's too bad you weren't here last weekend! MIT Open House + Janelle Monae concert (which, of course, I missed because I found out about it too late).

I want to seeee youuuuu.

I don't have anything more useful than that, and my favourite restaurant up here is a creperie, so, uh, yeah, rocking the unhelpful. Also, omfgod, school. But maybe we can grab lunchy things on Saturday1? Or maybe you will make it to the ball, and I've totally not-very-well been trying to find a ride for you guys.

Andyeah.

1: Between Free Comic Book Day and the Science Festival, I plan to spend all Saturday riding my bike around Harvard-Davis-Somerville-Cambridge. I will go to _all_ the comic shops. Finding you for food is way doable.

We'll be at the previously mentioned International Steampunk City in Waltham, MA. Programming appears to be on Saturday and Sunday only. We have to drive back on Sunday, though.
