I had a generation 3 silver chiclet before the theft.

I loved it. It was light, but I could still feel if I had it or not, and it didn't have a touch screen (I hate fucking touch screens).

The chiclet no longer exists, having been replaced by some little tiny touchscreen thing that I find confusing. The shuffle is a no go. I hate the iTouch (and dude, if I'm going to go there, I'd get an iPhone which doesn't work on my carrier). So do I need to go with the Classic? Is there any benefit to ordering an old chiclet and a slightly reduced cost.

I feel like I get so much more bang for the buck with the new models, eventhough they are all bigger and heavier than I want or have the scary touch screen factor.

Weigh in?

You pause with the button-bead on your headphones. :)

aaah, see I don't use Apple-approved headphones. :)

Skullcandy and a couple of other cheaper manufacturers make compatible headphones/earbuds now but their button-beads are clunky as hell, so I stick with my Apple earbuds. Unfortunately, I can't use their normal ones so I have to buy in-ear earbuds regardless. Apparently the conformation of my external ear assembly is weird, something my piercer commented on about eight years ago when I got my traguses pierced, but didn't really register until I couldn't figure out why normal earbuds don't work for me. And of course over-the-ear headphones compress my pierces in an uncomfortable manner! :) Sometimes you just can't win.

lol! I use over-the-ear ones because my ears are way too small for the in-the-ear types. I can manage about 10 minutes before I'm tearing them out of my ears. I have a bunch of holes in my ears but nothing in them anymore so the over-the-ear types work well :)
