Patty (to cat): Down!

[cat jumps off table onto floor]

Me: She's so good.

Patty: She knows that word. She also knows "no." She's multi-wordal.

Me: Wordal?

Patty: Shut up! She's sitting on her frog.

Me: Yes.

And we also have a crinkly frog for him that he pays no attention to.

Sit, stay, no, here, dinner is served.

Also Talk-To-Me-Spocko understands "Talk to me, Spocko!" Hence the name.

My cat totally has a frog. He only comes if we say "Homer Homer Homer". The cat, not the frog.

My mistake. Sorry, no sleep. Hey, did something happen in the Middle East?

Our cats understand the words "Stop that or I'll kill you." It means Big One has no sense of humour.(At least the barn cats listen...)

Sometimes I suspect Edmund thinks his name is Oi. He might know what 'din-dins' means.

All our cats are named Hey U. Cat. It's simpler.

(OK, they all know their code-names too. And each other's on a strict Need To Know basis.)

Pumpkin knows that when I ask "What's up?" he should meow at me. I consider this as being trained.

I'm sure the cat is proud of your progress.

Mimsy (11, tiny, gets carried everywhere) knows a fairly large vocabulary, mostly having to do with how she's arranged herself on my chest at any given point, or other forms of cuddly affection. "Lay down. No, down." or "Off the fourfoots.", which come to the same thing. "Nose kisses." "that is your butt in my face." (that is usually accompanied by a poke to the hip.) "Perchin please." (when she is trying to sit up, and I'm trying to encourage her into meatloaf position.)

Gomez knows "No", "Pets now," "Off the fourfoots", "ouch", and "No, seriously, get off mama's hip." (He's 16lbs and fat.)

Skwirl knows "NO," and ignores it. He also knows "Sushi," "guacamole," "steak", "breakfuss", "pancakes", and "Stop nomming my elbows." As you may have guessed, Skwirl LOVES him some people food.

Mouse and Tuna, being degrees of feral, and only just a very little year old, are somewhat wordally challenged. Mouse knows "steak," "pets" and "Monkey" (her toy) and "Mouse" and "treats"; Tuna seems to know "Tuna" and "treats" and that's about it..
