1. I don't think I realized all of that was happening this episode. God, I am so glad Santana is getting this plot, that it's not just about Brittany and that we're skewering American politicas in the process.

2. Foreshadowing about NYADA -- Kurt and Rachel aren't going together. I think Rachel's not going to get in, and/or Kurt will get in, but defer or not go. The certainty everyone has about Rachel getting in is the giveaway she won't.

3. Finn, YOU ARE AN ASSHOLE. His passive-aggressive shit with Blaine is AWFUL (and Blaine can go toe to toe with him on that while happening to be in the right). His thing with Santana -- I get it, I get that he wasn't thinking and was impatient, but NOT COOL. There were grounds for Kurt to out Karofsky and he didn't. There were NO grounds for Finn to do that.

4. Blaine and Kurt protecting Rory. Here, the gay boys being friendly and protective of the straight boy, all of them violating the guy rules that Finn laid out for Rory, and yet, geez, it's non-toxic, will you look at that?

5. Kurt's equestrian outfit. Bet Blaine was carrying his school bag in front of him all day.

6. Okay, that leather turban thing? WHAT THE FUCK? Can anyone parse that horror?

7. Did Kurt and Blaine swap outfit pieces (newsboy cap, waistcoast, and possibly shirt) halfway through the episode? Hahahahahahaha.

8. Rachel, doing right and making it all about herself.

9. My conviction Kurt will get into NYADA came when he took the mic off the stand and started walking around with it, no matter how awkward that speech was.

10. Klaine holding hands in the choir room.

11. Quinn, vicious and terrifying again. But will it go anywhere.

12. The campaign ads were hilarious!

13. Burt better win.

14. That Adele mashup was so fucking incredible. And I'm glad Santana slapped Finn.

15. Kurt's body language with Rachel during hug and after. Maybe this is just me, but he seemed less physically comfortable with her than usual. Kurt's weird about physicality in lots of ways, always has been. But head-canon tells me he can't stand to touch anyone but Blaine right now and that's not about desire, but desire remembered.

16. Blaine and those shorts. More with the random feminine positioning of him in relation to others.

17. This episode was more on the surface than many have been lately, and that's not bad. Digging for what makes sense or is interesting on this show, while always fun, can also be pretty exhausting and should be an OPTION for how we watch TV, not a requirement for any cogency.

18. Puck. Shelby. Yes, but whatever.

19. I think half this episode had to be inexplicable and probably not funny to anyone under 30 ("Hot for Teacher" and the Hall & Oats thing, which was, frankly, terrible).

20. FENCING WITH THE FUCKING MIC STANDS.

I do think Finn's reaction to Santana, while understandable that he would go for the jugular, speaks volumes about him as a character--the fact that he still goes straight to a person's sexuality to hurt them, when coupling that with his reaction to Kurt in season 1, just screams of his (possibly unrealized to himself) homophobia.

Finn's in absolute denial about his own homophobia, because his only self-concept is as a Golden Boy, and yet he has this lurking awareness that he's anything but the perfect All-American specimen he's been held up as all these years (see his breakdown last ep). He's a skinful of unrecognised privilege standing up and walking around, and nothing yet has managed to make him see outside of his own narrow blinders (witness him blithely offering to take Karofsky to Dalton to apologise to Kurt without so much as a by-your-leave in 'Silly Love Songs').

A slap to the face from Santana is less than he deserves, given how he's been treating her like a prostitute ever since he decided he felt guilty about sleeping with her when he knew perfectly well she didn't care about him, and now has decided that her life and safety mean nothing compared to his hurt feelings.

I cannot STAND Finn. Never could. First of all, Cory's not that great a singer, so the idea of him as male lead in the pilot was laughable in and of itself. Then the way he toyed with Rachel's emotions in the first 13 episodes, knowing how she felt about him, the way he attacked Quinn and Puck for their infidelity while also cheating on Quinn with Rachel (depending on how you define cheating; in this case I'm defining it as entertaining the romantic notions of someone not your significant other while in an exclusive relationship), then a year later WAS COMPLICIT WITH QUINN IN CHEATING ON SAM, while still seeing himself as not being at fault and as a victim to what Rachel did with Puck--which was EXACTLY the same thing that he did with Rachel when he was with Quinn...his self righteousness and complete blindness to his own hypocrisy is just infuriating. And then of course the homophobia he exhibited with Kurt, who, yes, was pushing himself on Finn, but Finn never would have reacted to Rachel in the way he did to Kurt, the way he told Sam, someone who IS comfortable with his sexuality and doesn't seem to care what others think, not to duet with Kurt because ~everyone~ (who is everyone? no one cares about glee club, remember?) would know and think he was gay, the way he's reacted to Blaine this year, the way he reacted to Rory SIMPLY WANTING TO BE FRIENDS...I just cannot stand him. He's an asshole. That's all there is to it.

He's a deconstructed Nice Guy/Golden Boy character. Deconstructed with the force of a halfbrick in a sock, sometimes. I loathe him; he makes my skin crawl. I'm just glad he's getting so very exposed for the creep he is. It's been a slow burn over the last two seasons, but he's had it coming all the way.

How ballistic is Burt gonna go on Finn over this?

Actually, scenario:

- Burt lashes out at Finn, brings up his prior bad history with Kurt.
- Finn, brings up Kurt's pursuit of him.
- Burt says something about Kurt having been non-threatening and a KID in said pursuit.
- Finn, trying to save his own ass, brings up that Kurt and Blaine are fucking.
- Kurt goes ballistic on EVERYONE.
- The entire Humdel house is grounded by Carole, who is appalled by the behavior of all her boys.

Never mind halfbrick inna sock; Finn's feet aren't going to touch the ground, and not just because of Santana but because this hurts Kurt too. And then there's what will happen when Burt turns Finn over to Kurt and Blaine (who I suspect will be trying to protect Santana in the hallways next ep the way they did Rory in this).

I want him locked in a punitive sentence of scrubbing floors, making coffee and photocopying pamhplets at the local Trevor Project office until he finally works out exactly what he did wrong. It may take several years, but that's okay.

'My parents don't even know yet.' That's the line that's got me raging, and I haven't even seen the episode yet. So much love for Burt being decent and supportive.

ETA: - Kurt replies to Finn's outing of him and Blaine by letting slip that he's had sex with Santana, Quinn and Rachel all three, too. Carole goes ballistic in light of baby drama.
-Blaine runs for the hills. Or brings out a fire extinguisher.
