Random stuff:

1. Did you spot the epic continuity error with the clothes in the first 15 minutes?

2. BEST KLAINE EPISODE EVER.

3. That look Blaine gives Kurt during "Constant Craving" -- they are fucking a lot

4. "We'll figure something out" -- again, Blaine is TOTALLY on board with the New York plan, even if he's a year behind.

5. I remain convinced that Kurt is going to get into NYADA, even with that sad, empty looking application.

6. Wow, they really down-played the Burt win. This is going to have a HUGE impact on Kurt and Finn's lives. Curious to see where we go.

7. Glad we finally have a parent-type figure who is unaccepting of a kid's sexuality. However, it still felt too easy -- Santana is safe and has somewhere to go. Was also interested that gay teen suicide was openly acknowledged.

8. "I Kissed A Girl" as a response to the douchebag rugby captain was FANTASTIC.

9. Did feel the episode was very murky about choice and sexual orientation. I actually hate the "it's all just how you're born" argument, but I didn't like this lack of clarity either.

10. I was uncomfortable with Finn's big plan. While it was touching in the end, it felt very concern troll-y and just because Santana had been outed didn't mean she had to be out.

11. Rachel! I cannot believe that your first response was "but I'll get suspended."

12. You'd think a girl with two dads would be less of an asshole about Kurt as a gay best friend accessory

13. Again, Kurt's clothes post 3.05 -- super feminine. I have thoughts, but perhaps no one wants them. Some of them are pervy.

14. So, Kurt's bullying arc is closed now. His struggles are going to be everyone else's now -- his future, his relationship, etc. So hang on.

15. Man, I cannot believe (in previews for next week) that those spoilers about Sam are true.

16. I can't believe that in one breath Puck was smart enough to acknowledge how broken Quinn is and in the next TOLD HER ABOUT SHELBY. STUPID STUPID STUPID.

17. Sugar Motta and the unicorn gesture, I love you.

18. Beiste! I predict the top selling songs of this ep will be "Perfect" followed by "Jolene."

You know you can't hold out on us with #13. And I wish I could say more than YES, YES, ALL OF THIS, but damn, I thought I might be crazy and alone in my feelings on this ep reading things elsewhere.

WHat are people saying elsewhere?

A lot of people disliked the episode. I personally wasn't a fan either, but it was less because of the Klaine end (which was adorable) and more because it was cluttered and rushed and a multitude of other, more personal reasons. I'm not a skilled television analyst, however, so I can't quite say how much of my dislike for the episode was due to said personal reasons or not.

I love reading your reactions though! :)

People are all up in arms Santana was getting suspended because of violence and two years of Kurt being bullied was swept under the rug/ignored. Which, I'm probably being too logical, but I thought Karofsky didn't actually touch Kurt in front of any teachers and Santana slapped another student in front of two teachers. They'd be stupid to not report it. Plus, it wasn't out and out stated, but did everyone forget about the no bullying campaign started last year? I guess if someone had pointed out Santana was part of the BullyWhips last year, it would have gone over better, but I really don't expect continuity in my Glee. When it happens, I'm jumping for joy but I REALLY don't come to expect it.

Also, Santana basically brushing off Perfect and breaking down during Finn's solo - ie, being told by a white heterosexual male it was okay to come out and then actually did. It was poor editing, sure, but I didn't take that from it at all - but I also have a shitton of Finn meta brewing since 306 that I should get my ass together and post so I'm probably looking at his actions differently than people. It was awkward and messed up as hell, like you said, but I'm not mortally offended by it and I really don't think the writers thought that far into it. Helping along Finn's jouney this season PLUS Santana's in one easy plot probably sounded like a piece of cake to them.

There's basically a lot of Santana can do no wrong/Finn can do no right floating around and they're both just stupid teenagers imo.

to be fair, Schue used to regularly walk past Puck, Finn and a bunch of other football players on the brink of dumpsdtering Kurt in the first few episodes...

But, really, it's a school, and a school that was really lax about bullying and violence issues until Kurt's situation brought them to the fore last year. Shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted and punishing any other horse that even looks at it, no matter why, is kind of how they react.

There are reasons I'm not a high-school teacher any more; that's one of them.

They'd wait until his back was turned, though (you'll all work for me, etc - Schue is an AWFUL teacher, but that's a whole different post). All I'm saying is if Karofsky VISIBILY slapped Kurt in front of two teachers and they did nothing, then you could make the argument. One does not excuse the other. It's not right, I was a teacher too for many years, but like it or not, voilence that is seen is dealt with far more quickly than voilence that isn't. Especially when Kurt didn't tell Schue everything when they spoke in Never Been Kissed - again, Schue is an awful teacher, but in part because he's a clueless dolt who isn't smart enough to connect the dots.

Now that also goes back to Kurt didn't report because he thought nothing would happen, but it's a vicious cycle.

This is very true. But it's not always dealth with correctly, either. Schue was one of the people pulling Finn away when he was busy trying to batter Puck into unconsciousness in 'Sectionals', and not a hint of punishment for Finn there...

And that is the perfect example of what you can compare Santana's punishment to! Because neither incident was really bullying, it was just violence in reaction to the other person's actions. Finn definitely should have been punished for that since Will saw, but who knows, maybe Shelby has more of a backbone than him hence bringing Santana in.

Probably the fact that Finn's a straight white Golden Boy and Santana is a queer brown bad girl play into it more than a bit, too.

See, like I said above, I really don't buy into Finn can do no right/Santana can do no wrong most people do. They're both teenagers that make mistakes and Glee has shown they're both far from perfect.

It's not about can do no right/can do no wrong; it's about the hidden curriculum and the way that race issues, sexuality issues, class issues and student reputations play into the way teachers respond to different students. The indigenous students, the poor students, and the 'bad' students I taught pretty much expected to be called on the carpet even when they didn't do anything wrong, and the white, middle-class 'good' kids expected to get away with it when they did some pretty awful things - because that's how teachers had treated them, consistently and without even realising they were doing it, for most of their schooling.

Schue is not as good a teacher as he thinks he is, and we've seen, on-screen, that he doesn't just overlook this, he actively works to avoid paying attention to minority issues (the 'We're all minorities because we're in glee club' rot from the end of 'Throwdown', among other things) - and that Finn gets favourable treatment from him when it's not earnt, too.

Finn beat Puck up in front of two teachers and got away with it. Lauren beat Santana up in front of a teacher and got no punishment. Santana slapped Finn once across the face and got hauled to the principal's office and threatened with suspension. I can't help feeling like the fact that she's a troubling girl - a tough, aggressive, brown, queer girl - has something to do with that.

Ia so hard with this.

Also in NBK: When Karofsky attacked Kurt Mr. Shue noticed and took Kurt to his office where he admitted to be aware of Kurt's bullying.
Kurt even stated that Will(and the rest of the teachers) was/were too lax when it came to homophobic bullying in the school.
So Will not only was aware that Kurt was getting harassed, but also witnessed Kurt getting harassed and still did not haul Karofsky's ass to the principal in NBK.
