This movie is so so so great (that I'm in incoherent moron). It looks like nothing you've ever seen, and yet it's entirely a visual love letter to the history of movies and film and just everything.

Also, very very slashy, and not in a "I was looking for it" way, but in a "here, have some slash, and oh, now we will make jokes about sausages" way. I mean, when this thing comes out on DVD, there's going to be a drinking game revolving around how many times Jude Law says "Good boy, Dex," to his very loyal best friend. Oh my god. Mrrrrowr. Also lots of poly!fic possibilities. Right hi... fandom dork today.

Also, Angelina Jolie reminds us of why we like her, finally.

Also Gwenyth Paltrow? Only as annoying as she was supposed to be.

I'm fascinated by this movie. Haven't seen it yet. In fact, I only heard about it at all a couple days ago. I was planning to see it on the simple strength of the title. Oh the title!

And of course Jude Law and Angelina Jolie are seriously in the running for nakedest actors in the world.

Now your description has made me all drooly to see it for you know vaguely more "legitimate" reasons. Whee!

Teehee. "legitimate reasons". I slay me.

Oh! A few years ago I used one of your longer posts (about gender construction) and the accompanying responses in a course I was teaching. When I asked permission, you said "sure, and tell me how it goes" but I never did tell you. Here's my delinquent assessment:

It went very well. I was hoping they would really start thinking about the extent to which their decisions and opinions are influenced by weird and contradictory and irrational gender ideals they aren't even aware of. They really didn't, sadly, but they DEFINITELY started to understand the different forms of argument, which ones rely most consistently on logic and which attempt to manipulate prejudices in the reader, etc. They learned quickly to identify crackpots, too (several of the people responding made very little sense).

It was a great lesson, so thanks for that as well!
