One of the dumb, nitpicky thigns I've been stressed about as regards NIDA (the list is very long and, as you might imagine, increasingly bizarre) is that I didn't sign up for any of the evening special guest lectures from important film and theater industry people (*wankity wank wank* I know). Not that any of the special guests have been announced yet, but I was being all "Christ, it's going to be someone cool, and then it's going to be sold out, and then I'm going to be mad."

But, I just found out today that my studio tuition includes all the special guest lectures and evening bbq's, which means I can stop obsessing on this completely ridiculous thing, and I'll save some money on food.

Go me.

Granted, everything else still seems like a clusterfuck. I'm owed some paychecks and need to buy a plane ticket.

Meanwhile:

- I hate being tan, but should I basetan before I go, because no amount of sunblock will save me?
- Cut my hair?
- Dye my hair? (because do I want highlights form the sun, or do I want to get rid of its naturally mousy boring color)
- Do any of these things matter at all.

My advice - go as natural as possible because changing yourself in an emotional panic is bad, mkay?

None of these thigns are really drastic issue:

- my hair is normally much shorter than it is right now and I'm not sure what I think of it.
- My hair is also usually dyed about half the time, so that's a pretty normal thing too
- and the tan thing is only about averting misery.

Different tap water in strange countries may change the way your hair acts after washing, just to add to the horror. Pack a few extra hair products/tools just in case. If your hair is more likely to be unmanageable while long, then get a cut; if it's better behaved when it's longer, let it be.

Are you actually going to get much sun if you're attending all these classes?

If your existing hair has been dyed much, the dye may fade, but you probably won't get sun highlighting anywhere that's been dyed.

I recommend not dyeing your hair right before massive sun exposure. I went to Puerto Rico for a week with my hair dyed reddish, and it turned gunmetal grey.
