You know, there are still lots of things I dislike about it, and I miss the kitschy wonder of the thing that meant so much to me as a kid, but how the hell did the new Battlestar Galactica turn out to be the most challenging thing on television other than Deadwood?

It's because the plot now resembles a Mobius strip sliced lengthwise about sixteen times, but is somehow captivating rather than the hopelessly muddled mess that it should be.

I chalk this up to me caring enough about the characters to invest the mental energy needed to follow it, which is made easier by the fact that while it's convoluted, it's convoluted in interesting ways, rather than just for complexity's sake.
