In which the New York Times reminds us that Bill Clinton is the most Slytherin dude in the entire world:

There's a lot not to respect about him. However, it's also worth noting that if Katrina had occurred with him in the White House, he'd have made absolutely certain that as many people as possible were saved and given all the assistance they required - definitely a complex person.

I don't seem him as that complex. You have a job, do it. When you don't have to do the job, screw off and have as much fun as your job allows you to have. He's a frat boy at heart, who wants beer and sex when work time is over.

No, the frat boy's in the White House. Clinton is the band-geek adult child of an alcoholic. As such, he's living his childhood in fits and starts (marry the smart feminist but fuck the nonthreatening bimbo, ferinstance.) Clinton wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth and had to achieve what he did on pure ambition and mad skillz. He's terribly complex, actually. (And terribly disappointing.) He's had to pay for his irresponsibility, something frat boys are notoriously let slide on. It fascinates me that he's so much more of a lightning rod figure when the current President is so much more radical in his politics.
