Dear Girls,

In case you didn't know, and you probably didn't because you were too busy worrying your pretty little head about getting married, crying at work is bad.

Damn, I'm irritable. But glad to be out of races I can't win. And dude, why's it in the _style_ section? Oh, never mind.

Uh, it's sad to admit, but during the period where D and I were broken up, I cried *constantly* at work. I moaned to my supervisors. I sniffled about the terribleness of this break, when we were so right for each other. To the point where they really suggested I spend my performance award money and go to Iceland. I must've been horrible to be around.

There were no professional repercussions, as far as I can tell. But my workplace was an exception; despite the fact that the NYT would probably consider it a "career stepping" workplace, we were all a bunch of close friends, so boundary-stepping like that seemed to be okay. Apparently everyone had a big cryfest together when Kerry lost, too, except I was out of work that day.

I've never heard of this crap...

First of all, it's unspoken that what happens in the bathroom stays there.

I work in a top 5 company, and I've seen it a few times in the bathroom, and I have cried occasionally, but it's never affected my employment or my promotability.

Reason #severalmillion why I've given up on the NYT for anything but Krugman.

I was passed over to be manager of my store because I went outside and cried once.

They choose a 17 year old high school student instead.

Are you sure that is why?

I mean it might be ,but ther emight be other reasons, too, probably just as stupid.

Well, it's either that or that I'm ugly.

I outsold and outperformed her.

There might be factors you aren't aware of. It might be personal.

I discovered at one place I worked that one of my bosses didn't trust Jews. She was so sweet to my face, I thought she was weird, but I really had no idea.

Ugh

I wasn't able to hold it in at work recently. The feeling I got afterwards was worse than failure.
I definitely think it was brought on by overwhelming frustration. I'm glad NYT articulates the name for it, because at the time I was wondering what was really wrong with me.
