Hey, if you ever want to do something really stupid and painful, I can't recommend enough dropping metallic green sealing wax on your hand from about an inch away. FUCK that hurt, and, in fact, is continuing to, ferociously. Blistery metallic fun. It's so totally going to scar too.

Keep it moist. Get a good burn cream and follow the label, or if you have it, squeeze out fresh aloe juice straight from the leaf, or tea trea oil for burns (such as the commercial product medi-burn's Melaleuca gel).

I work at a specialty coffee shop where we have a brand standard of hot, fresh coffee. My job includes dumping entire pots of scalding coffee -- not intentionally over my other hand, but it has happened. The first night it hurts so much it wakes me up every hour or so: dutifully applying aloe probably saved me some scarring. Hopefully that pain will do for you what mine did for me -- kept me attending to it properly for the first 24 hours. I've been amazed what a difference a well-treated day makes.
