So we have this router.
we got it hooke dup, and I'm, obviously, online.
When I log into the router it says Megan is logged into it too, but from her computer, despite saying she has an excellent signal, she cna't go anywhere. The troubleshooting guide seems to indicate she has tird party firewall software installed, but if she does she has no idea what (her Macaffee stuff is expired).
So what the hell are we looking for to get her online. The router, if it matters is a Belkin G.

This is a PC right?
Date: 2005-12-01 05:40 am (UTC)There could still be signs of it in the registry left over from deinstallation and that could be what your new firewall s/w is seeing. So you probably need to clean your registry off all things McAfee.
Good Luck.
It may not hurt to do a random search of her hard drive

In the meantime, contemplate Bjarne Stroustrup's words of wisdom: "People used to say that some day, a computer would be as easy to use as a telephone. That day has arrived, because I can no longer use my telephone.")
Hardcore Techie here!
Date: 2005-12-01 04:20 pm (UTC)1. What operating system is Megan running?
2. What are the IP addresses of the two machines? (If you don't know how to find this, let me know the OS of your machine as well and I can give instructions.
3. I'm guessing Wireless network?
Let's start with those and we can go from there.
