via [livejournal.com profile] violetisblue who also notes that surely these kids won't be reading Paradise Lost either.

If I were living outside the US, that would be absolutely hilarious, instead it's just surreal and distrubing. The middle of the country is becoming increasingly weird in a strangely bland and pathetic manner.

huh. i have issues with kids seening videos in school at that age (doesn't denver have an opera company?), so that's moot.

however, i told Grimm's fairy tales to my class last year. oh yes. and while i left out fitchers bird and herr korbes, there were some pretty heavy moments. it took some talking with parents to get them to understand that kids can handle hearing about a lot more than they can handle seeing, especially things that happen in once-upon-a-time.

faust in grade one? nah. but definitely in grade 6-- they need that kind of stuff to get through adolescence!!!
