The play didn't make it to the next round. Then I got called for background work for tomorrow and then wasn't booked beause I play an age-range too young and I just feel like I can't do anything.

It's worse than that. 2 of the 4 plays from the series advance, so both that and the bus stop one went ahead. Which means my play was in the bottom half of the evenings quality.
The only sane conclusion is that the audience was stocked with competing directors who wanted to make sure that their own plays had as little competition as possible.
i have a cheer-up present in mind for you (and for the gf) if you ever email me your address.... it's wee, but it amused me when i thought of it today.
