the heat is starting to break. At least it's below 90; I've been sleeping with icepacks. I've been trying to put the icepaks on the cats too, but they don't like it. And while scattered thunder storms aren't that appealing for Pride, I think it beats the alternative. 75 degrees and a bit of wetness sounds fucking fine to me. I'll bring a poncho. Did I mention my hillarious shirt for Pride arrived?

So did one of my checks from Enchanted, so that's good. For a change, they actually lumped multiple days work into one check, which is slightly harder for me to check the accuracy on, but is way less annoying with the bank. So there should only be one more check for the days in the other week. That was a surprise. Sitting on my hands when it comes to writing about the other stuff is making me a bit nuts, but so it most certainly goes. still no word on money from Germans, but theoretically a client should be paying us by the end of the week and then we'll gets funds. It's all ridiculous. I need to do more AC, but I've been brain dead, and as some of you know, yesterday was spent fighting with idiots.

dance magic dance. or something.

Rather than tying icepacks on the cat (an interesting mental image) try rubbing their bellies with a wet washcloth (soaked in regular or ice water). 'Tis what my vet recommended and it seems to take the edge off the heat for my fuzzballs. I also try rubbing their heads with it, too, but they've made it clear that they'll only hold still for so much...

Well, I've just been putting the icepacks against them. They sniff them, discover they are not food, and walk waway irritated. I will try your suggestion.

They'll look horribly outraged, until they realize that their tummies are now, mysteriously, much cooler than the rest of their bodies.

My two squirmed a bit the first time, but hold still for it now. Given that I'm looking at another 100+ degree day inside Casa Cthulhu (my kingdom for central AC!) I'm glad that the cats' tiny little brains made the connection...

This is a fantastic idea.

Now to see if my kitty will sit still leave my hands unmaimed for the process...

Good luck!

As I said, mine were a bit righteously offended at first, but they got used to it. Especially when I did it to them right in front of a floor fan, so the cooling effect was (I hope) immediately apparent.
