I woke up with such a blinding headache this morning I was in tears, had to take painkillers and go back to bed. I seem fine now, but I rarely get headaches unrelated to my period and that bordered on alarming.

Have to meet with the documentary people tonight at Viceroy of all places (a location that will really only be funny to Kali and Edie).

What's appalling is how few Regency groups there are. Everything is American Revolution, Civil War or Victorian it seems, and I can't figure out why (the obvious boys and their guns factor aside).

Guns does not explain the Victorians, an era I consider shockingly ugly as well as provokingly moralizing. I just don't get it. Comfy easy-sew dresses that look sexy, people! Screw the scary hoopskirts!

I think Regency didn't get much play in American history, and maybe made less impact here. But there are folks who hold Regency dances at our local SF cons, so I will chase them at some point.

Well it's true the Regency Era contained major events in Europe, it's sort of sandwiched between two major events here, I mean, unless you really, really care about the war of 1812.

The Victorian thing I think is largely about the corsets, and the fact that men can dress formally and attractively without being put out of their comfort zone, which I think Regency and earlier clothes are.
