In the past couple of years, I've known one person who was allergic to wheat, and another who was allergic to rice. I've been astonished at how many foods contain these items. I can't imagine being unable to eat ANY kind of gluten. (Oh, and my wheat-allergy friend was also severely lactose-intollerant and vegan.)
