Now I await reports from others who were there, since the reports last night got so jumbled that it seemed like half the Internet was reporting today that The Mirror of Erised is important to Book 7.

I should go to bed, but it's too hot to sleep or really do anything else either. I could sit here and hit one key over and over. That's about it.

Accidental tickets are wondrous things.

The most amazing thing in my life was Salman Rushdie approaching J. K. Rowling to say, most fundamentally, "So what about Snape? Good? Y/N?" I was like "Oh my GOD, and this wasn't the night [livejournal.com profile] rm was here...!"

I might have expired on teh spot. I 've read two versions of this -- one where it's uterly unclear and one where she seems to be saying Snape is good, more or less. What was your take?

I was too busy being hysterical over Salman Rushdie being there -- as, technically, Haroun and the Sea of Stories is why I ever wanted to write in the first place, and it's sacred to me, and I read it over every year, etc. -- but here's what happened. Basically, Salman Rushdie was like (and here I paraphrase and butcher the awesome way in which he said it) "So my son and I have this theory, in which Snape is in fact a 'good guy' and he and Dumbledore planned Dumbledore's death together, and that Dumbledore isn't really dead: It was a ruse so that when Harry comes up against Lord Voldemort, he will in fact have more allies than Voldemort expects." J. K. Rowling just stared at him. Long pause; then Salman Rushdie clarified, "Basically what I'm saying is, Snape: good guy or not?" To which Rowling replied, "Your opinion is correct, but Dumbledore, I'm sorry to say, is really dead."

It seems pretty obvious to me that she's saying Snape is good, but. She is also insane. So who knows.

My theory is that we got some truth out of her AT LAST (as she didn't answer ANY other questions with ANYTHING remotely useful) because you can't say "Bitch, no" to Salman Fucking Rushdie.

Hahahaha. He is my new hero for asking that. And I must say, I'm relieved.
