I'm too tired to write any of the posts I would like to right now, so I'm going to talk about more Phoenix Rising planning.

I want to be costumed for everything except (assuming they get accepted) my workshop and fanfiction presentation -- it's important to me to be neutral for those two things for different reasons, that I think should be obvious. If I get to do the fanfic presentation, I'll probably wear my sari, because it is not everyday-wear for me, but also not a costume and no HP specific.

Anyway -- my full men's Regency outfit with scary horned leather mask will be perfect for the ball. I will probably wear my silver Regency gown to the opening feast. I'll probably wear my Severus stuff for all in-hotel con stuff otherwise. the real problem is off-site events: I'll probably get a better handle on that when I hear what other people are doing -- but there's also the temperature isue. I've been to New Orleans in May and it can be brutal, and while Kali might well find the idea of Severus swooning hillarious, I don't. Okay, i think it's hillarious too, but not when it's me having heat stroke. I should do a basic Slytherin Hogwarts uniform probably too, if I want to be a little more chill than the layers and layers of potions master armour.

It's going to be wonderful dressing in all the weird ways that suit me best for days on end.

Also, dude, Kali's Internet is restored. Descensus RSN.

I MUST go to the tailor tomorrow.

Snape is grumpy because the house elves insist on serving wholemeal toast -- IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW.

I hate the vampire theory, and if we find out he really is 1/8th vampire or something else stupid (which would qualify him for citizenship in the Vampire Nation) in the last book, I am going to formally revolt. It's just too lame. We already have a werewolf, and an undead. We don't need more classical horror. Of course, maybe he's really Imhotep and the layers are really his ceremonial woowoo wrappings.

The stereotype of the filthy genius is, sadly, not undeserved, often, which is something that other people don't tend to understand. People who are driven by intellectual pursuits tend to neglect the body. I can't even think of many geniuses that were clean all the time, had tidy hair, and dressed like normal people.

I do wish I had read less fics that had a Major Revelation at some point on Harry's end that Snape's hair was Not Greasy But Actually Just Very Soft. Or fics with the grand transformational Harry Buys Snape Scented Shampoo scene. Christ. Some people, who really do bathe every single day without fail, have overactive sebaceous glands. I'm pretty sure he has yellow teeth because he drinks English tea, and probably not with milk, and yellow fingernails because he sticks his hands in things that stain every single day of his life. Decoctions of plants, for example, are tremendously staining -- what do people think dyes were made of originally, anyway?

My body temperature for most of my life has been two degrees below normal and I have atrocious circulation. No one seems to know why. When I was younger, my BP wouldn't register on the machines in the drug stores or the home ones and it used to give an error, so I used to tell people I was dead and that was why my fingernails were blue, too.
