Does anyone remember the girl who believed Merry and Pippin were real, could channel dead hobbits and was teaching people the secret dead hobbit language in her journal?

Who was that?

Oh, I know all about her. Wait was she the dead hobbit girl too?

I'm fairly certain it is, yeah. She and her girlfriend thought they could channel Merry and Pippin after Victoria came back from the dead.

She was ALL things, man. HILARIOUS. Her old journal about the dead hobbit language is down, but I think if you dig you'll find an archive.

I dunno. Is now a good time or a bad time to tell you that icon makes me think of Hermione?

Hey now, don't break the spell! I think you both looked very regal. Better than Kirsten Dunst, at any rate ;-)

Ummmmmmmm. I'm gonna go with snake handler for the upcoming event.

Kidding, of course. But I *did* have a huge boa constricter around my neck once. It's a pretty funny story, actually.

I have a photo of myself with a snake draped around me somewhere. Actually, someone who is coming may be bringing actual snakes, not really sure if it's practical, but he mentioned the possibility.

If he's talking about bringing snakes into the museum, it's probably not a good idea. Chances of bringing outside cooties in to the exhibit snakes.

That actually reminds me of something that came up recently- the internet-phenom called "soulbonding", wherein one has a romantic relationship with a fictional character (who exists on another plane of existence than our own.)

This was snarked in dps and I find it both very funny and somewhat pathetic.

I also find it seriously irritating. As someone who has strong philosophical opinions about the full lives of fictional characters, crackpots like that make it impossible for me to speak cogently and be listened to about my creative process and the due I think is owed to the folks we make up and/or interpret.

Also, god, if you're gonna be an utter loon, could you come up with better terminology?

Ok, this is maybe the funniest/saddest part:

"When a character stays with you somehow, when their experiences become important to you in some way, to an extent greater than normal, to the extent where you feel as if they’re somehow a part of you or have some kind of presence in your mind - that is soulbonding."

No. That is GOOD WRITING. Or sometimes it just means that you identify with something in the story. Jesus H. Christ.

They have an LJ community and it seems to be made up mostly of posts pointing out famous people who have supposedly had "soulbonds" in an attempt to make their BS seem to be some mark of superiority.

What is very sad is that they see ANY strange idea that any famous person had as a vindication of their own delusion. For instance, the PKD/VALIS thing.

This definitely deserves my crazy pills icon.

*sigh* It makes me sad, people listening so hard and somehow hearing nothing.
