Does anyone remember the girl who believed Merry and Pippin were real, could channel dead hobbits and was teaching people the secret dead hobbit language in her journal?

Who was that?

I don't know the answer to this question, but I just wanted you to know that I'm sure my brain will hate you/thank you on account of my rampant affectation for train wrecks if the answer is given.

Yeah. It was my favourite kooky thing on the Internet for a while, but I lost track of it and am now shocked by how many people don't know this story. I'm hoping that someone on my friends list does have the answer to this.

I don't know who that was, but I know the name of the similarly crazy woman who thinks she is married to dead Brandon Lee. He's her "spirit companion." She's writing a freaking book.

I would LOVE to read the journal of the hobbit lady.

Oh yeah, I know about that woman for like 3 totally disparate sources, which never ceases to Freak Me Out.

Know in real life, or know of online?

Link, please. :)

Know of online, met once in person (she bought a candlestick from me on eBay and wanted to do local pickup because it was very expensive to ship.)

She is, among other usernames, [livejournal.com profile] meridjet. And she is crazy as a bedbug. Make some popcorn... she has a bunch of websites and they should keep you busy for awhile :)

I came across some chick recently who married Sephiroth on the spiritual plane. But I didn't keep the link. Her journal was bubblegum pink.

Oh, I remember that. And didn't she not know where the name came from? I believe she was snarked in dps.

She was married to the video game character, not clue one about Kabbalah. DPS? I am so far on the outskirts of wankdom that wank passes over my head like the Perseids. That is to say, infrequently and briefly and even then I often miss them. Journalfen is to me as Swift-Tuttle to the Earth.

Yeah, she was married to the video game character, and when someone made a comment about Kabbalah, she was all "What does Kabbalah have to do with anything?"

I'm fairly certain it is, yeah. She and her girlfriend thought they could channel Merry and Pippin after Victoria came back from the dead.

Ummmmmmmm. I'm gonna go with snake handler for the upcoming event.

Kidding, of course. But I *did* have a huge boa constricter around my neck once. It's a pretty funny story, actually.

I have a photo of myself with a snake draped around me somewhere. Actually, someone who is coming may be bringing actual snakes, not really sure if it's practical, but he mentioned the possibility.

If he's talking about bringing snakes into the museum, it's probably not a good idea. Chances of bringing outside cooties in to the exhibit snakes.

That actually reminds me of something that came up recently- the internet-phenom called "soulbonding", wherein one has a romantic relationship with a fictional character (who exists on another plane of existence than our own.)

This was snarked in dps and I find it both very funny and somewhat pathetic.

Date: 2006-08-17 06:25 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rm.livejournal.com
I also find it seriously irritating. As someone who has strong philosophical opinions about the full lives of fictional characters, crackpots like that make it impossible for me to speak cogently and be listened to about my creative process and the due I think is owed to the folks we make up and/or interpret.

Also, god, if you're gonna be an utter loon, could you come up with better terminology?

From: [identity profile] 00goddess.livejournal.com
Ok, this is maybe the funniest/saddest part:

"When a character stays with you somehow, when their experiences become important to you in some way, to an extent greater than normal, to the extent where you feel as if they’re somehow a part of you or have some kind of presence in your mind - that is soulbonding."

No. That is GOOD WRITING. Or sometimes it just means that you identify with something in the story. Jesus H. Christ.

They have an LJ community and it seems to be made up mostly of posts pointing out famous people who have supposedly had "soulbonds" in an attempt to make their BS seem to be some mark of superiority.

What is very sad is that they see ANY strange idea that any famous person had as a vindication of their own delusion. For instance, the PKD/VALIS thing.

This definitely deserves my crazy pills icon.

That was VB. She also claimed to be Elijah's male cousin on the run from the IRA.

HP fandom is still the wankiest--but Lotrips is a close runner-up.

I think HP has more wank (and of course VB has a connection to HP fandom too), but LotR tends to be spectacular and weird when it wanks as oposed to "oh, that? _again_?" in HP.

Victoria Bitter/Amy Player/Jordan Wood. That was the first LOTR wank I ever discovered, and I think it still sets a benchmark for fandom wankery that nothing else matches.
