Disclaimer: It’s JKR’s world, I just mess about with it.
Allosia woke slowly. At first, she thought she had somehow managed to twist around so that she was upside down in her own bed. Then she remembered she wasn't in her rooms at all and Severus’ bed clearly just faced a different direction than her own. She was alone.
She threw her legs over the side and reached for her clothes. Somehow, she'd wound up naked, and he hadn't, but at the moment coffee was her larger concern.
As she stumbled out into the main room, he glanced up from his desk to say hello, but quickly went back to his work.
"How long have you been up?"
"A few hours. I told you I needed to finish this."
"Right. Um -"
"Don't know what to say?" he asked without looking up.
"I'm not good at this, Severus, not with you anyway."
He arched an eyebrow. "True that."
"I should go."
"Use the floo, would you?"
"Yes, of course," she agreed quickly, thinking of the potential ramifications of her being seen leaving his rooms in this particular condition at this particular hour.
He looked up from his desk then and smiled at her broadly. "I'll see you at breakfast."
"Right, coffee," she said, trying to sound confident as she headed for his fireplace. "Thanks, by the way, I had fun," she added in a small soft voice.
"I'm glad," he said as she disappeared into the green flames of the floo system.
A shower and a few moments in her own rooms helped clear her head, but Allosia wasn't entirely grateful. After all, it gave her the mental clarity to overanalyze every aspect of the evening. Walking to breakfast she forced herself to think about the day's lessons.
Part of her hadn't actually expected him to be there. He'd seemed so closed this morning, and she'd fully expected several days of avoidance. When she arrived he acknowledged her tersely, and she said nothing more familiar than asking him pass her the large plate of toast Flitwick seemed to be hogging.
When the owls flew in for the morning mail delivery, she was surprised to see a particularly massive bird swoop in and drop a large, square letter in dark parchment right in the middle of Snape's plate.
He visibly blanched and stared at it without moving, his face clearly making an effort to be neutral. Notably, several other people in the hall were also staring, including the headmaster, McGonogall, and a few of the students.
"I so rarely see you get mail," Allosia said hoping to elicit some sort of response, but feeling like an idiot for making small talk.
"Let me assure you, I prefer it that way." He snatched up the letter then and stormed out of the hall.
