I so utterly, utterly didn't know this. Looks like Warren Buffett is poly.

And I feel really pleasaed that I do now. Thanks [livejournal.com profile] copperwise.

Someone told me that awhile ago. That to some events he'd bring his wife AND his mistress...

I'm floored I didn't know it, since I spend probably about two hours of my day every day on Buffett news at work.

That made me smile. What a nice relationship. And I think that the last sentence also speaks volumes.

A close friend and I were discussing this just last month. In business circles, and in many circles I guess, this was widely known. I find it to be remarkable relationships with all involved and am encouraged by such things.

What is amazing to me is that the press chose not to sensationalize this for decades and yet, with other public figures, they feed like carrion. So what is the difference, you suppose?

Politics. As far as I can tell, Buffett has stayed well away from it, neither running for office, or being a big spender with those running for office. He donates a lot of money to generally nonthreatening charities. It is in no one's interest to spread his laundry around for all to see.

You know, that was my first thought. HE is a little tucked away from the glare of the public eye. But he was also making some big money for big shakers, the ones that stay behind the scenes.

But this is what puzzles me. There should have been some "media person" looking to make a name for themselves with a story like this. At some point, there was an editorial decision that it was of no interest.

Personally, I think more people should have the freedom of choice for this arrangement if it works for all involved.
