Listening to the soundtrack and reading [livejournal.com profile] coyotegoth's review of Marie Antoinette, I realized there's something else I want to say about it, back in that dying world vein of things.

There's a certain terror in it that small things, both as joys and terrors, will be forgotten. That comes entirely from Sofia Coppola and not the characters (of course, she is one of those directors with a personal story and a set of personal obsessions that effectively always makes her a character in her films), but it's a really astounding thing. Tremulous. The more I think about this movie, the more highly I want to recommend it, even knowing that most people won't like it or want to look at it as closely as one needs to, to find value in it.

I should probably see it again. Happily, that's true of a great many movies I've seen of late.
