To be fair, the child with Down's comes straight from the novel, though of course that doesn't mean Marber couldn't have eliminated that detail (unless Zoe Heller was in a position to veto such a change).

I'm disappointed to hear it was so terrible, but somehow, not all that surprised.

It was really well done. I just hated every second of my existence while in the theater.
