So Gather is doing this thing looking for paid correspondents on certain topics and people have to publically submit their writing samples. I am reading these things, because they are there to read (and they are my competition) and, well, perhaps I shouldn't. To say I feel uncharitable about the quality of many of them, well, that would be charitable.

I stayed up until 4am last night completely defeating the purpose of my nap.

Hopefully mine isn't one of them. 8-)

Unlikely, as I'm sure your articles don't start with any variation of "I saw this movie at the mall with my husband and we both thought it was really neat and will make you feel good if you are sad or even if you are already happy." Also, you do not abuse elipses.

Oh, no. Mine's a reprint of a writing article I published a couple of years ago on CyberOasis on Standard Manuscript format (and lack thereof). I haven't read the others. I'm scared.

Hopefully we'll be co-workers...

Yes! You should read the others. You will be scared.

Well, then, we should stand out well above the rest and get the jobs with the stipends...

Yup. I've been doing a thing for them for the last month as anentertainment correspondent (higher stipend, more articles required) and that's going to continue fo at least another month, but they said i could apply for this too. I did in two categories and hope I get one.

I just did books and writing. I have enough on my plate to not get further involved than that. We'll what happens from there.

Well I don't think they will let anyone have more than one position -- it was my safety net thing -- I did boks and writing and movies. I suspect of the two I'll get movies, as they've really liked my movie reviews so far and my books submission was my tirade about how much I hated Melusine.

My "other" would've been music, but books and writing - well, that's must me. I'll wait and see. Not that I have all that much time for it, but two articles a month or so isn't THAT big of a hardship.

I thought about applying for this in Health, but when I read the publicly posted articles they made me want to run away :) Scary scary people.

The thing is, there are peopel who can write on teh site who don't suck, so you should apply and you'll get it.

I responded to a Craigslist ad looking for those writers. I wonder if my stuff will go into that pool. Is it a good gig? It seems to be, for you.

Your stuff will, which means you have a very very good chance.

It's been great for me. The program I was in demands more work for more $ but has been awesome. It also included a large bonus for the two best writers in the program, and I was one of the people who got it. This will pay for my tattoo and my first weapon.
