MI-5 on A&E is probably the best thing on television. Thankfully I finally found when it's on at a decent hour, instead of the middle of the night, which is the only time I ever seem to catch it, but it bloody fucking exhausts me every time. The show is complex, dramatic, isn't afraid to hurt its characters, unpredictable (and not in that Law & Order, the funny little music goes and then you know there's a twist) and requires more brain power than several jobs I've had. Excellent performances, and will definitely please anyone who was a fan of the original La Femme Nikita film.

Meanwhile, isn't anyone watching Carnivale on HBO? It's like Twin Peaks and Nick Cave wound up in a blender, and it's bloody brilliant, and unlike Twin Peaks isn't a mystery for mystery's sake. And while I know it's cable, and you can do anything on cable, the show consistently shocks me for where it's willing to go, and have a good solid justifiable reason for going there. (Also for anyone who is watching, can you please tell me why Lodz disturbs me so severely. He's really not the most disturbing thing in the show, but he pushing my buttons and I don't know why).

P.S. -- Today was stupid.

I'm absolutely fascinated with Carnivale, even though I'm a bit behind on episodes... I like the characters, the setting, and the mystery. It's not at all what I expected. Last night, I was watching "Black Blizzard" and there was something about Lodz that kept reminding me of someone else, but I couldn't place the actor's face. That's when I realized who I kept returning to... Hannibal Lector. Lodz delivers his lines with a cadence and tone that's similar, and it's downright creepy at times.
