Descensus mirrors will go live soon.
http://asylums.insanejournal.com/descensus_hp/ for now.
Possibly GJ. Ultimately, our own webiste and domain.
ETA: Like on LJ, only [livejournal.com profile] kalichan and I will be members of the community so we can both post; friend to read, and I'm sorry that this is totally confusing.

I view both of these options as non-satisfactory. For now, I will remain here posting all content and backing up to harddrive daily. When a general tracjectory for fandom becomes clear some or all aspects of this journal may migrate.

When my paid time runs out, I won't be reupping.

So no effect on you teh reader, but now you know where to find me if LJ does suddenly decide that writing is as scary as art. Because seriously? If the novel I was working on was visual content and I shared any of the WIP here, I'd be nuked off LJ so fast it's not even funny.

I think that one bit of info that people are overlooking is that the LJ source code is open source. Someone with a bit of motivation and some money to burn could start the whole process anew.

No one is overlooking that. that's how JF got started, that's what GJ and IJ are and that's what is being talked about on [livejournal.com profile] fandom_flies

Ahh ok. I'm obviously not following things close enough. I've been sorta skimming because of Defcon week.

Scribblit is promising. 18+, servers in Canada, ToS created by fen with legal fen advising. Worth keeping an eye on.

Yup, I'm hoping that when that opens that's going to become my actual solution.

I don't know. Canada's pretty heavy on 'obscene' material (GBLT, BDSM, and of course 'child porn', including fictional 'minors') these days, though that may be their customs/imports officials rather than their federal law.

Otherwise, yes.

Where is it that people are listing their journals so I can find people to refriend on other sites? Argh.

You know, I don't want to go. And, I'm not going. I'm not leaving my community. But I will stop paying for anything here, and I will stop promoting the site, and I will take my 'professional' business elsewhere, at least until I feel more secure. I'm still a little hopeful. But then again, that's often to my detriment.

Hi. I saw your post on lj_biz (boldface just 'cause I can), and I checked out your profile. You seem very interesting, so I'd like to add you to my flist here and at my new GJ. Also, you're mutual friends with [livejournal.com profile] machineplay, which is definitely a good enough rec for me.

I've got nothing at GJ yet, but feel free in both places and I'll add you back. Hi!

I'll pop over to IL later and add you (er, once I've worked out how!).

Y'know, when I saw that icon of yours for the first time, for about half a second I thought that was a baseball bat, which made me really laugh. Hey, it made sense to me, OK?

Not that the actual icon isn't cute, and no, I don't know what a ribbon was doing tied around a baseball bat.

Being British, I'm not a baseball fan, although a gift-rapped bat is a cute idea.

Oh, it wasn't a baseball thing, it's that a baseball bat is a really commonly referenced blunt instrument in the U.S. - therefore being used to smack someone who argued with your creative license.

But thank you for reminding me of some of the things it's bad to assume about the person I'm speaking to online.

Ha, that's even better, I like the idea of having an Art Stick of Doom. But you're right, I would never have thought of it in that way. Cultural differences are always interesting, especially between the US and the UK since it's so easy to assume that we inhabit the same culture because of our shared language and history.

Yeah, I grabbed hangedwoman in both places. I can't imagine leaving LJ completely because of things like my parrot communities, but I'm not giving them anymore money. As far as the rest, I'll figure it out as I go along.

While Strikethrough 07 hasn't affected me personally, I am pissed off as a writer and as a paid member.

I don't know anything about greatestjournal, insanejournal, et al. Is there any sort of breakdown describing pros and cons of the other systems? Just curious..

This whole situation is utterly enraging. I am nearly speechless about it.
