I think this film is just going to confound people -- I mean really, musicals confuse us enough, this musical has always been complicated and add to that Tim Burton's utter sincerity and Johnny Depp's unavoidable playfulness and woah, this is going to be one uncomfortable heightened reality.

Date: 2007-10-05 06:21 pm (UTC)It's just a weird thing, with Sweeny particularly. It's not like Angela Lansbury had the greatest voice, but she's still able to pull off those songs better than anyone (*cough* PattiLupone*cough*).
But, we'll see. I do really want it to be awesome. Like, I hope in my heart of hearts that I'll be totally blown away and it will be the movie-musical of my dreams. And maybe it will!!
Though actually, I'll probably have to wait for DVD, cause I'll be gone when it comes out!
