Okay so now after going to two different vets (the second of which I actually like) and spending about $800 the situation with Little is as follows:

- infected/impacted anal gland thing being dealt with with Clavamox.
- apparent kidney disease from first visit non-existent.
- slow-growing carcinoma on her face that's not really worth worrying about but can be removed as a secondary issue should she need anesthesia for different reasons.
- some sort of mystery pancreatic problem that isn't urgent and may be related to her weight.
- oddly healthy teeth for her age.
- diet plan! (she's 18.4 lbs!!!!)
- return check in 2 months.

Thanks for mentioning this. While Science Diet is better than grocery store kibble, there's a lot of evidence out there for "Stop feeding pure carnivores grain-based food!" Diet foods in particular tend to swap out fat for more carbs, which can actually make it worse; they you're just feeding smaller and smaller amounts of the wrong building blocks.

In short, yay wet food.

EXACTLY! The Eukanuba and CORE have much fewer "fillers" thus the lower carbs. I always mention them because I have some cats that will NOT eat canned. We tried the felidae during the wheat gluton affair, but none of the cats would eat it. NONE!
