please tell me I don't have to go to the 24 hour apple store right now

iPOd froze up.
Itunes won't recognize it.
Screen also won't go into saver mode.
I can't fix it.
Do I have to bring it to the Apple store right now to make sure it doesn't burn an image onto the screen and ruin the thing?

i see you figured it out, but did you get the applecare contract? if not, do it. trust me. i've had mine over two years and have had it replaced twice for free because of things that couldn't easily be fixed.
