please tell me I don't have to go to the 24 hour apple store right now

iPOd froze up.
Itunes won't recognize it.
Screen also won't go into saver mode.
I can't fix it.
Do I have to bring it to the Apple store right now to make sure it doesn't burn an image onto the screen and ruin the thing?

Mine does that from time to time as well. I don't know why, and it seems to correct itself if I leave it alone long enough. Weird.
