Yes, I'm writing about a fucking Torchwood tie-in novel. Actually only have a second right now, but has anyone else read this? Because I just inhaled it and it kinda fucked me up. PMS or did it actually rattle anyone else?

Unrelatedly: the Mac Genius Bar? Genius!

Twilight streets is a mind-fuck. Serious mind-fuck. I'm still not sure exactly what happened in it.

I'm relatively sure of what happenedn (although which side is good or evil was lost on me pretty instantly and only got more lost), but it had a lot of throwaway moments that left me alternatively confused or moved (sometimes both). Including Ianto's tirade about his sexuality (which made me sad), possible future Jack and that "He was Ianto" line, which was supposed to mean what I'm not sure, but hit some weird PMS nerve in me (also, wow, Jack spends the first half of the book being an utter dick to him, and the second half of the book seems to hinge on how their true love will save the universe -- I'm not actually complaining, I just can't figure out how the writer more or less pulled that off).

I mean, was pleasantly surprised, really, but if I dream about that shit tonight, I'm gonna be pretty grumpy tomorrow.

Ianto's tirade about his sexuality was pretty funny, if a bit sad. I think it was the way it came about more than anything else.

It's a really twisted book. If you want really good TW tie-in, read 'Something in the Water' The character voices are spot-on, and it's a really well-developed plot.

Ooh, is that out, finally?

*rushes off to Amazon to order*

I'm looking forward to your thoughts on it.

Amazon is not good or reliable with the TW books. But Borders is carrying them all here in NYC now, so I might try calling your local.

It's really interesting, and has rattled me emotionally (which surprised the hell out of me), that's why more when I have the brain for it.

*nod* That's a very good point re: Borders - better to buy from a local business, too.

When I first saw the blurb (and the cover!) for this one, it went straight on my to-get list...

It's pretty awesome, and it's not _scary_ per se, but don't read it if you're in a mood or don't have another distraction on hand. I found it pretty upsetting.

It messed with my head a little too... I need to re-read it. I'm doing the PMS thing too and I read it in the last couple days.

Okay, I'm glad it's not just me.

>Mac Genius Bar

I think it would be *more* genius if it were a real bar with real drinks.
And then if your computer was totally hosed, they'd comp your tab.
Just sayin'.
(Been there a lot. A lot of Macs in this house.)
