Also, thank you.

huh. that really looks like a WWII photograph. And even knowing it's you, I'm wondering what happened to that handsome young man, so young, so young.

(another part of me grinned for different reasons and said "Hi Jack!" which is probably more what you wanted.)

"Hi Jack!"

But what if, like most people, you don't know Jack?

probably I'd be stuck in the liminal space, the walking between worlds -- the here and there, the now and then.

I *know* it's her, today, but I could *believe* it was a him, sixty years ago, caught well-aware and wary, on leave or just off duty. I would wonder who was taking the picture, what he or she had said or done to *get* that expression on him. And I would ultimately hope it ended well, that he came home again, after the war, in one piece.

(NB: I'm an archivist in real life, and I once came upon several pictures like this one, only actually from the 1940s, of men at home either on their way to or from a war, posed in front of houses and garages in Newark. I never learned their names or what had happened to them, and wish I could have.)

Oh, wow. Very evocative.

It could only be cooler if the hazy background image was actually you in femme drag.

Being me, I half-expect to see fireman gear somewhere in this picture; there's definitely a "uniforms" and working-man feel. (Narrower suspenders for dressier, I think that and the rolled sleeves and open collar are the working-class motifs. And the lack of a watch.)

Je me suis un Americain, et aussi je ne voir pas le Torchwood. Dis donc, ils sont les bretelles.

Although from what I know of Torchwood, I wouldn't be surprised at all if there were suspenders-Brit-style involved.

Thanks. It was exactly what I was hoping to get out of this evening. Sadly, I was reminded by the photographer that Polaroid ha gone out of business, and they won't be doing the photos anymore after the next event because they can't get anymore film. The photo wasn't supposed to be about _that_.

Meanwhile, despite the fact that I own a _very_ nice watch that doesn't look femme on me at all, I am crap at remembering to wear it.

Is there? Darn, even at maximum zoom, I can't make it out.
It's very odd* that He came came into my life about the same time you did, in ways quite unconnected with you.
It's very odd, because most of the Gods in my life aren't, as a rule, Egyptian. To quote a friend, I'm all about agro Celtic battle Goddesses.
But I'm a 21st century Gael, so He's most welcome, if He wishes to take an interest.

*I say this a lot, somehow.;)

I worked as a contractor for Polaroid ages ago when freelancing. I was used once in a while as a model for the development of the high end films, being so pale, photographed with a friend who was extremely dark, few of the cameras could photograph the two of us together and retain the proper focus and contrast.

It is sad that there will now be no more of it, it was a very specific niche that digital just doesn't do, not with the same feel.

Thank you. I'm rather fond of it. Aside from "oh hey, it looks how I wanted it too" there's a lot of joy and sadness in it. Dunno where it came from, it's sort of like writing, sometimes you bring stuff by accident.
