- Next story in the TW series I am doing with Kali is almost done. It's batshit insane and scorching hot.

So this morning, someone linked me to a song, called "Lucy," (5th sample track (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=1812487)) with some lovely ambiguous phrase-breaks that made me think Rose Tyler all over the place. Except when I looked up the lyrics (http://www.theofficialkarmasite.com/music.php?id=audio&mode=lyrics&track_id=7), the few words that had been garbled changed the meaning slightly, made the protagonist trashier, and of course specifically blue-eyed.

When Derek Jacobi turned to face the camera after opening the watch, I very nearly hid behind my chair. He was that good. Too bad we couldn't have had more time with him as the Master, but I loved John Simm.

The weirdly appropriate way in which it's the character who chooses the theme music, and that everyone in the scene (all of humanity, essensially) can hear it too, just melds so well with the theme of the three part story arc.

Oh, yes. That phone call was so obviously phonesex, at least on the Master's side. The Pertwee/Delgado (Third Doctor) also had subtext by the gallon, although apparently the Master was supposed to be revealed as the Doctor's brother or something before Delgado died in a car crash.

Jack/Doctor is a total fetish. You can't imagine how happy that scene when Jack is in the radiation room made me.

I once read a really incredible (at least I think it was incredible, it was awhile ago...) series where Ten and the Master ended up traveling together after series 3, and somehow Ianto was there. Yea. It was total hotness. If I can ever find it I'll supply a link. ;)

So, the really cracktastic part is that I can't find any attraction for the new Master, because I fell so very very very hard for the old Master, all three versions of him (but of a much more consistent mold than the Doctor).

That hypnotic thing? He used to be positively Svengalian, and I'm quite certain that Jo Grant, who traveled with the third Doctor, deliberately went out of her way to get hypnotized by him as often as possible.

He had that self-contained, very controlled madness usually reserved for your better class of conscience-free vampires, and I wanted him before I consciously knew what sexual attraction even meant, let alone S&M. I like the new guy and all, but I can't make him match in my head the way I can from Doctor to Doctor. Jacobi, I could see him being a form of the Master I knew. It broke my heart to see him as that human, almost identical in affect to the Doctor's first incarnation, just a nice, brilliant, self-absorbed recluse. What he might have been.

New guy, too much of a jump. Too bad, because I have no compunctions about sexin' up the Master, while to my three-year-old's heart the Doctor is strictly off-limits. But a cool character, and he kept the Master's sense of long-term planning, which has never been a strong point of the other villains.

I AM NOT THINKING ABOUT COMIC-CON.

The good one was Twilight Streets which is very Jack/Ianto. I'm reading Border Princes right now and it's pretty Gen (other than Gwen having a thing going on with a character you don't know yet), but the characterizations are really sharp.
Another Life is the other one I've read, and it's okay, but I didn't find the characterizations as sharp a lot of the time.

When the three-parter ended, I was pretty damn livid at the Peter Pan-meets-Jesus moment of Ten's resurrection. The "Lonely God" theme throughout Season 3 really got under my skin, and I was thankful only when the season was over since it could be retired as a story arc. The really good stories leading up to the season-ending ones felt, IMO, wasted.

After watching Season 4, I partially retract my rage at the end of the prior season, as that particular story arc makes more sense in retrospect. The Doctor is a Lonely God because that's what's best for him, as Season 4 highlights your take on Ten's dark personality more so than Season 3 did. When you plow through that series, or for your readers here who already have, I have a half-baked theory about the Doctor as a God here (contains spoilers about that season, so don't click, etc.).
